But if you can get all the screws loose without messing them up, it's well worth a try, but remember the pipe gets HOT, so I don't know what you can use to prevent rust that's not affected by the heat, at least you can check if there are any cracks already.
Maybe you can even get the whole baffle out, I don't know if it was glued in or something, there are some remains at the pipe that look like the baffle was glued in.
Anyway an additional screw to the two at the end, maybe opposite of those would have held the baffle in at least, even if it was loose.
